Does waxing hurt?

Every person is different, and it depends on your pain tolerance. You can take a pain reliever 30 minutes before your appointment to help with any discomfort.

How long should my hair be?

Your body hair should be at least ¼ of an inch to wax, that is about the length of a grain of rice. Or generally 2 ½ 3 weeks of hair growth after shaving or Nairing and 3-6 weeks after waxing.

How can I prepare for my Brazilian/ bikini wax?

  1. Make sure your hairs are long enough to wax. 2-3 weeks of hair growth after shaving and 3-6 weeks after waxing.
  2. Exfoliate the skin 24 hours before your appointment.
  3. Wear loose-fitting clothes to your appointment.
  4. Avoid caffeine and alcohol consumption on the day of your appointment ( caffeine or alcohol consumption can cause more skin sensitivity).
  5. Take a pain reliever 30 minutes before the appointment to help with any discomfort. (if needed)

What should I do after my wax Brazilian/bikini wax?

  1. 24-48 hours after your wax you should
  2. Avoid touching the area.
  3. Avoid tight clothing
  4. Avoid scented oils soaps and lotions.
  5. Avoid exercising.
  6. Avoid hot tubs, pool, Jacuzzis, saunas.
  7. Avoid intercourse/ friction.
  8. Shower with lukewarm water (avoid hot).

We recommend using DECK exfoliating scrub and BUSH BALM moisturizing oil for maintaining your Brazilian/ bikini wax. These products along with others are available to purchase in the suite.

How often should I wax?

  1. Bikini area – 3-6 weeks
  2. Face – 2 weeks
  3. Legs, arms, back, etc. 3-6 weeks

My hair is growing back, why am I getting ingrown hairs?

Ingrown hairs occur when the hairs are unable to easily break through the skin. Instead, the hairs get trapped under the skin causing a bump and irritation.

To try and prevent ingrown hairs follow your aftercare regimen. We will discuss your regimen during your appointment. (We recommend using deck Exfoliating Scrub and Bush Balm oil to help with ingrown hairs).

Can I get waxed while on my cycle?

Yes, just have a clean tampon inserted.

Can I wax while pregnant?

Yes, it is best to consult with your doctor to get his/her approval.

What should I do after my underarm wax?

Avoid deodorant 24 hours after your underarm wax.

Exfoliate your underarms 2x a week to remove dead cells and deodorant buildup.

What type of wax do you use?

We use hard wax for Brazilians and their Underarms. Soft wax is used for larger areas of the body like legs, arms, and back. Depending on the hair type we may use hard or soft wax.

We do not offer sugar waxing.

Can I wax while taking medication?

If you are taking the following medication you should refrain from using the medication for at least 6 months - 1 year before you wax.

  1. Accutane/isotretinoin  

If you are taking the following medication you should refrain from using the medication at least 1 week before your wax.

  1. Retinoids
  2. RENOVA
  3. Retin-A
  4. Retin-A micro
  5. retinol, retinyl palmitate
  6. retinaldehyde
  7. adapalene
  8. Tretinoin (Renova)
  9. tazarotene
  10. Antibiotics

Waxing while taking the above medication(s) can result in lifting/tearing of the skin.

When should I wax for a special occasion?

You should schedule your wax appointment at least 6 weeks before your special event. Scheduling your appointment in advance will give you a chance to see how your skin will react to waxing.
